This Product Bulletin is a correction to PB 4373 that was released with an incorrect effective date. This PB now reflects the correct Effective Date of April 5, 1999. PB 4590 was originally sent out as part two of eight PBs covering the Sector Materials Organization Closure. This information was intended to be released on one PB, but due to size limitations, it had to be divided by technology codes. Some customers may have received what appears to be the same PB multiple times, but the device list will be different on each PB: 4575, 4590, 4591, 4592, 4593, 4594, 4595 and 4596. Motorola Semiconductor Products Sector is currently going through realignment of its manufacturing resources. The Silicon Materials Organization (SMO) in Phoenix, Arizona, orginally opened in 1958, and is currently scheduled to be closed by the end of June, 1999. Silicon wafers currently provided by this facility will transfer to previously qualified sources or to Mitsubishi Silicon America's (MSA) production facility at its headquarters in Salem, Oregon. MSA, one of the top six global silicon materials suppliers, was chosen for its global technological and logistic capabilities. MSA has been an approved silicon supplier to Motorola for over 5 years. The transfer will occur after significant technology transfer and Motorola internal evaluation and qualification. This qualification process has been designed to help make the transfer seamless to our customers.
