PHOENIX, Ariz. – June 19, 2012 – ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN) a premier supplier of high performance silicon solutions for energy efficient electronics has introduced a new power line carrier (PLC) modem system-on-chip (SoC) for use in applications such as e-metering, home automation, solar energy and lighting control. The first device in a new family of PLC modems, the NCN49597 combines a low power 32-bit ARM Cortex M0 processor with a high-precision analog front end. Based on a dual 4800-baud S-FSK (Spread Frequency Shift Keying) channel technology, it has been optimized for power efficiency and performance, while providing excellent robustness and reliability to enable operation in the harshest environments.
