Phoenix, Ariz. – Feb. 15, 2008 – ON Semiconductor (Nasdaq: ONNN), a leading global supplier of power management solutions has introduced 12 new power MOSFET devices that optimize dc-dc conversion and reduce power losses at critical current levels. These MOSFETs are ideal for CPU, GPU, and system rail dc-dc conversion - for both low and high side switching in computing applications such as notebooks PCs, desktop PCs and gaming boxes.
These new 25 volt (V) and 30 V devices are single and dual N-channel MOSFETs offering lower RDS(on), that minimizes power dissipation. The devices also provide low gate charge and low gate charge ratio that reduces conduction and switching losses. These performance features combine to make the power subsystem more efficient.
“When developing these new MOSFETs we focused on helping our customers meet their specific computing power management needs,” said Paul Leonard, vice president of the MOSFET Division for ON Semiconductor. “We plan to continue to expand our industry-leading MOSFET portfolio, specifically for advancing computing and portable applications. Combined with ON Semiconductor’s advanced dual-edge controllers, our MOSFETs enable customers to implement complete power subsystems using active components from a single global source.”
The following four MOSFET devices are offered in a SOIC-8 package for use in notebook computers. They are budgetary priced between $0.35 and $0.53 per unit in quantities of 2,500 units.
The additional eight new MOSFET devices are offered in a DPAK package for use in desktop computers and gaming boxes. These devices are budgetary priced between $0.20 and $0.47 per unit in quantities of 2,500 units.
All of these devices are RoHS compliant and are delivered in Pb-free packages.
“Last year was a dynamic year for ON Semiconductor’s power management portfolio for computing applications,” said Bill Schromm, senior vice president and general manager of ON Semiconductor’s Computing Products Group. “We successfully expanded our dual-edge controller and MOSFET portfolios to address both the PC and notebook markets, and acquired the voltage regulation and thermal monitoring products for computing applications from Analog Devices, Inc. We plan to continue to introduce innovative computing products throughout 2008 that will further enable our customers to develop compact, cost-effective and energy-efficient power subsystems.”
