ADAS, Viewing & Autonomous Vehicles
The end goal of completely autonomous driving is to have no needed human interaction. Currently, the state of AD is Level 2, meaning that vehicles can drive themselves, but require that the driver keep their hands on the wheel.
Level 2 & 3 advanced driving requires forward looking safety systems that provide features such as automated cruise control (ACC), automated emergency braking (AEB), lane keep assist (LKA), and blind spot detection (BSD).
Viewing & Sensing
E-Mirror or Camera Monitor Systems (CMS) enhance or replace traditional mirrors on vehicles. These systems provide drivers with greater visibility, eliminate blind zones around the vehicle, reduce aerodynamic drag, and offer designers more options for future cabin designs and functionalities.
Safety & Security
ADAS system requires that the system prevent or mitigate any action or behavior that could cause harm. The assessment of the probability of harm and the severity of that harm caused by a failure in the system allows system designer to classify levels of risk the system and to take appropriate measures to minimize the risk.
